Chelsea are likely to beat Liverpool to the signing of West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice, according to journalist Dean Jones on GiveMeSport.
The Hammers skipper seems set to leave the east London outfit this summer, having publicly spoken of his desire to win trophies at the top level.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have previously been touted with interest in the 23-year-old, and Jones has now shared an update on the player’s future.

As per the report, Chelsea are the side most likely to secure a move for Rice. Both Manchester United and Liverpool retain genuine interest in the midfielder, but it is still believed his childhood club currently lead the race.
According to CBS reporter Ben Jacobs, the Irons may now allow the England international to leave for just £75m – having previously spoke of figures in excess of £100m.
Chelsea likely to beat Liverpool to Rice
When fans hold conversations about young midfielders Liverpool could sign, Rice is never really mentioned. This is largely due to the fact that he is perceived to be much older than he actually is.
At just 23-years-old, Rice has already amassed 37 caps for England. Now the captain at West Ham following Mark Noble’s retirement, he has already featured a staggering 215 times for the Hammers.
In the middle of the park, he is extremely dominant. His ability to win the ball back and turn possession over for his side illustrate his competence as a six in front of the back-line.

The midfielder is also strong going forward, with the confidence to run with the ball and play defence-splitting passes.
Hailed by Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker as ‘magnificent’ and by England teammate Jude Bellingham as a ‘top player’, no wonder Premier League sides are battling it out to secure his signature.
Therefore, news Chelsea are his likely destination will come as a major blow to Liverpool.
