‘Make an offer’: £32m player’s agent now urges Liverpool to consider signing his client next summer

Arthur Melo’s agent has urged Liverpool to consider signing the midfielder on a permanent basis next summer.

The 26-year-old has only played once for Liverpool since joining in September. A long-term injury has led to suggestions that the Reds could even look to end his time at Anfield in the New Year. But speaking with TuttmercatoWeb.com, Federico Pastorello aimed to to clear up Arthur’s current situation.

“In January he remains at Liverpool, 100%. It’s something that has never been in question, I don’t know who has questioned the rumours about his possible return to Turin but it’s not like that, absolutely,” he asserted.

“It is not in the contract and there is no possibility because no one has questioned his stay: neither Liverpool, nor the player.

Pastorello then went on to assess what Arthur’s future could look like beyond his spell at Liverpool ending next June.

“As far as next season is concerned, we’ll finish the current one and then we’ll see. There isn’t a real right of redemption, but obviously by continuing Allegri at Juve we’ll have to find a solution. So, if Liverpool wanted to renew the loan or make an offer in my opinion, they would find fertile ground,” the agent claimed.

Arthur still in with a shout at Liverpool

Arthur’s current situation is quite a sad one, really. It’s clear that Juventus have no intention of taking him back once his loan spell ends. Although his move to Liverpool had been a rushed one, there was still hope that the Brazilian could turn things around whilst at Anfield.

Good early signs proved that he was keen to do everything he could to make the move work. But injury has since made that an impossibility.

Initially ruled out for four months from October, things didn’t look good. However, there has been some good news for Arthur recently. Fabrizio Romano reported on Twitter last weekend that the midfielder is actually ahead of schedule for a return from injury. As a result, Liverpool could see him back in action by the end of December.

If Arthur can push on and impress Jurgen Klopp for the rest of the season, he could still earn a permanent move. And if Liverpool can get favourable terms from the player, and Juventus, then what do they really have to lose? They badly need reinforcements in midfield and may have to pursue one or two cheaper options.

With a permanent clause of around £32m, Arthur would certainly be that. As Juventus are now experiencing some financial difficulties, perhaps Liverpool could even negotiate a lower fee with them.

It really all depends on the player proving his fitness over the second half of the season. Nothing should be ruled out at this stage. Go and make your case, Arthur!
