Ally McCoist was amazed by the quality of reported Liverpool transfer target Sofyan Amrabat during the Morocco’s game today.

Amrabat was once again a key figure for his team as they made in history in the World Cup. Their 1-0 win over Portugal made Morocco the first African nation in history to qualify for the semi finals of the competition.

At the heart of it all was Amrabat. On co-commentary duty for ITV (10/12/22 4.55pm), McCoist was in awe of the 26-year-old as he jinked past the Portuguese press deep into stoppage time.

“Amrabat again, look at this! That’s magic,” raved the pundit.

The Liverpool target weaved through the opposition with such composure before picking a lovely outside-of-the-boot pass.

As the games go by, Amrabat is looking more and more like the kind of player the Reds could do with.

Amrabat makes history with Morocco

Wow, what a World Cup Morocco are having. Now into the semi-finals, they have a genuine chance of creating one of the biggest upsets in football history. For them to give that a proper shot, Amrabat has to stay fit.

Having played every single minute of his nation’s campaign in Qatar, he must be running on empty. Given the amount of work he gets through every game, Morocco should be a little worried about burnout.

But, as much as he’s a lovely footballer, that’s the kind of thing that will impress Jurgen Klopp even further.

Liverpool currently have too many midfielders who can barely stay fit for three games at a time. Robustness must be at the top of their checklist for any potential new signing. Amrabat looks to have that in spades.

Perhaps that’s what convinced Liverpool to open talks with the Fiorentina man prior to the tournament starting, which they reportedly did.

As a result of his incredible displays in Qatar, the Reds will want to get back to the negotiating table as quick as they possibly can. After what we’ve been seeing from him, there’s bound to be a lot of interest. What a player!
