Liverpool youngster Calvin Ramsay has set his sights on making his Premier League debut once the league season restarts.

We finally saw the 19-year-old in a Liverpool kit just before the break for the World Cup. But despite Champions League and Carabao Cup appearances, Ramsay is yet to feature in a league match.

Now, speaking to liverpoolfc.com from the club’s Dubai training camp, the Scotland international says that this is his next goal.

“That’s the aim now. I just need to keep working hard. This is a good chance to show what I’ve got [at the training camp]. Hopefully I can make my Premier League debut as well,” Ramsay said.

Ramsay heading in the right direction

Although he hasn’t yet played in the Premier League, this season has still been one of firsts for Ramsay.

A first Liverpool appearance was swiftly followed up with a debut on the international stage for Scotland. Having done just fine in his first outing, Ramsay will no doubt be desperate to keep his place in the set-up.

The main obstacle to that is likely to be whether he can stay fit. As we’ve seen from his two showings for Liverpool, the teenager is clearly a talented boy.

Although game time will still be tricky to come by initially, he’s going to get his chance sooner or later.

Just like Kostas Tsimikas has done on the opposite side, all Ramsay can do is perform well when given these chances. If he can do that, then further opportunities will come his way.

For Jurgen Klopp’s part, he’s clearly convinced that the man signed from Aberdeen has what it takes to succeed at the highest level.

Klopp has previously been effusive in his praise of Ramsay. If he continues to train well and stay off the treatment table, he’ll play at some stage.

With Trent Alexander-Arnold still at the World Cup, now is the time for Liverpool’s No.22 to make a name for himself. Show enough over the next couple of weeks, and you can’t rule out a Premier League debut once things get going again at Aston Villa on Boxing Day.
