Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has now been speaking about club teammate Ibrahima Konate ahead of England’s quarter-final World Cup clash against France.

Following the Three Lions’ 3-0 win over Senegal, Gareth Southgate’s side are now set to face Les Bleus in the last eight of the tournament.

Speaking to BeIN Sports on Sunday night, the 32-year-old was asked whether Konate was going to provide any inside information about France’s star attacker, Kylian Mbappe.

“No, I don’t think that Konate will give us anything on Mbappe, I am sure of it,” Henderson said.

“A world class team, a team at world class level, Mbappe is probably in his best ever form, he’s probably the best player in the world at the moment alongside Messi. Incredible player.

“But when you look at the team, in all the positions, the quality that is there. They are world champions right now and it will be a very difficult test for us next week.”

Henderson set to face Konate

Although Konate was absolutely incredible against Tunisia, he dropped to the bench for France’s round of 16 knockout against Poland.

Despite deserving a place in Didier Deschamps’ XI, the 23-year-old was never expected to start matches beforehand anyway.

Featuring in all three group games, the youngster has proven himself on the world’s biggest stage.

This is brilliant for Liverpool, as the defender will likely return to Merseyside on a massive high.

Going into the second half of the season, Konate will be crucial to Jurgen Klopp. He is expected to the Reds’ first-choice player to partner Virgil van Dijk at the back.

This electric form has also been the case for Henderson, who has dominated in the middle of the park alongside Anfield target Jude Bellingham.

Therefore, if these stars can return to Kirkby injury-free, Liverpool’s staff will be more than happy.

It will be interesting to see how England vs France goes, with Konate hoping to feature against his club captain in the quarter-finals of the World Cup.
