Steven Gerrard is clearly wowed by Jude Bellingham as the England midfielder continues to impress. Liverpool reportedly want the player.
Jude Bellingham made his World Cup debut on Monday and impressed everyone watching. The 19-year-old looks like a ready-made superstar, able to dominate a midfield as a teenager.
Not that anyone is too surprised. Bellingham is making waves this season, quickly developing into one of the most dangerous midfielders in Europe. His potential is enormous.
Steven Gerrard certainly sees it. Jamie Redknapp told Sky Sports that the Liverpool legend had a brief chat before the game where he applauded Bellingham.
“Just before the game [against Iran], Stevie and I were talking just as the player were coming out,” said Redknapp. “He just comes up and says ‘He looks a talent, don’t he? What a player he is’.”
Steven Gerrard wowed by Jude Bellingham
It’ll likely mean a lot to Bellingham that Gerrard rates him so highly. He’s never made a secret of his admiration for the former Liverpool captain.
He told the FA’s YouTube channel last year that Gerrard would be his ultimate shirt swap – he wants that England no.8. Liverpool will be hoping he wants their no.8, too.
Liverpool are incredibly eager to sign Bellingham, after all. That’s the line from just about everywhere, with the Reds pushing hard to sign him.
We believe Liverpool may be close, too. The situation appears to be lining up in their favour and Bellingham could well end up at Anfield.
They must shatter their transfer record to do it, however. We feel Bellingham is worth it, though – let’s see if Liverpool agree.
