'It is true': Fabrizio Romano claims Liverpool have now made calls about signing 'fantastic' player

Fabrizio Romano believes Liverpool have been making calls about Jude Bellingham in this transfer window. The midfielder must be priority one.

Fabrizio Romano believes Liverpool have been making some calls about Jude Bellingham recently. In fact, just in the last few weeks, they’ve been trying to find out how likely a transfer is.

“It is true that Liverpool a few weeks ago called people close to Bellingham and Dortmund to enquire about the situation to understand if they had a chance to jump into it,” Romano told his YouTube channel.

“The answer was no, no way, the player is untouchable this summer.

“But Liverpool are thinking of Jude Bellingham alongside many top international clubs, because also Spanish and English clubs are interested.”

Liverpool make Jude Bellingham calls

This really does make complete sense as competition will heat up dramatically in 2023. Clubs from all over Europe will do what they can to secure Bellingham as he’s unquestionably one of the best young players on the planet.

That competition, however, is exactly what Borussia Dortmund will want. They have an incredible valuable asset here and won’t sell Bellingham on the cheap – they certainly don’t need quick cash.

But you can’t blame Liverpool for trying in this window. We imagine the Reds would be open to a Naby Keita-type deal, too, where they secure the player a year in advance. Once again, though, it just doesn’t suit Dortmund to do that.

Bellingham’s value will only increase – he’s still a teenager, after all – and he’s in line to be the biggest transfer of 2023. There’s a lot of money on the table for him.

We can only hope that Liverpool are willing to match whatever other teams offer. Bellingham would be a sensational signing and really should be the Reds’ no.1 priority going forward.

It sounds as though he is but this won’t be an easy one to get done. All Liverpool can do is put themselves in the best possible position and they appear to be doing just that.
