Mykhaylo Mudryk made some comments this week on a possible transfer and they appear to rule out a move to Liverpool. The Reds supposedly have to have an interest.

Mykhaylo Mudryk is one of the most interesting players in Europe right now. He’s put on really solid performances in the Champions League, alerting many of the world’s top clubs to his talents.

Liverpool are supposedly one of those. Calciomercato report there’s an interest from the Reds – but they’re far from alone in that. Arsenal, for instance, are reportedly linked.

And that was a question put to Mudryk this week. While discussing his potential next move, the Shakhtar winger had two possibilities put to him. On the bench for Real Madrid or starting regularly for Arsenal?

“From a purely theoretical / fantasy perspective if there was the option of being a bench player for Real Madrid or a starter for Arsenal, I’d probably choose Arsenal,” Mudryk told Vlada Sedan as translated by Zorya Londonsk. “It’s a tough question & involves a lot of factors in my answer.

“I would first want to know from the head coach that even if I wasn’t a guaranteed starter, that I’d receive a chance. Essentially I need to hear directly from the manager what he envisages my role to be in his side.”

Mudryk unlikely to move to Liverpool

So it sounds as though Mudryk will prioritise first-team football when he leaves Shakhtar. Liverpool just can’t guarantee that, however, given their abundance of left-sided players.

Luis Díaz thrives there, while Darwin Nunez is impressing in the role right now. Diogo Jota can also play on the left, as can Fabio Carvalho. We’ve written before that this move would be unlikely for precisely this reason – Liverpool don’t need Mudryk and he’d just be a luxury signing.

The player doesn’t want that, however. And for a reported £52m, Liverpool can count this one out.
