Liverpool have scouted Mykhaylo Mudryk, according to one journalist. The Reds have opinions on his asking price, too.
This comes from Ben Jacobs on Twitter. He claims the race for Mykhaylo Mudryk is heating up and Liverpool are in there.
Shakhtar Donetsk won’t sell cheap, however. They want at least €60m (£52m) to part with the winger, who has seriously caught the eye in Europe this season.
Arsenal are heavily linked, while Manchester City and Newcastle United each have ‘growing interest’. A whole host of teams from Europe may try to secure the player, too.
“Shakhtar will consider offers of €60m+ despite hinting at a figure closer to €100m,” writes Jacobs.

Jacobs does also say that there’s a problem with Liverpool’s interest.
“Liverpool have scouted Mudryk, too, but won’t pay above market value and know Shakhtar aren’t easy to negotiate with,” he says. “Challenge for most suitors remains the price and to get it down a very preferable payment structure and generous add-ons will be needed.”
We see an even bigger stumbling block: Liverpool’s need for a left-winger. The Reds have Diogo Jota, Luis Díaz, Fabio Carvalho, Curtis Jones and Darwin Nunez who can all play out there.

Sure, Mudryk is superior on the flank to at least two of those, maybe three, but he’s not getting in ahead of Díaz or Jota. Thus spending £52m+ on him makes absolutely no sense.
Instead, it’s money that Liverpool must save for a midfielder or two. That’s the position where the Reds need strength and certainly not at left-wing.
While we wholeheartedly believe that Liverpool have scouted the player – he’s a fantastic talent, after all – we find it equally difficult to believe that they’re considering an offer at all. This is one where the Reds simply have much higher priorities.
