Liverpool are closing in on the signing of Borussia Dortmund’s in-demand midfielder Jude Bellingham.
That’s according to ESPN, who claim that ‘multiple sources’ have now confirmed that the Reds are back in the driving seat.
Despite strong interest from the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester City, Liverpool are said to be leading the way. It’s claimed that that’s the result of the Reds forging a ‘close relationship’ with the player’s camp.
It’s even reported that Dortmund could be willing to do a deal for Bellingham in the January transfer window. However, it is conded that a move is ‘far more likely’ to happen next summer.
The price of the transfer will reportedly be far closer to around £86m, rather than the £130m that has recently been suggested. Although it is predicted that the presence of some of Europe’s ‘big-hitters’ could trigger a bidding war.

In Liverpool’s case, this would reportedly be bad news. Real Madrid are said to be in a ‘strong position’ thanks to their relationship with Dortmund. But regardless of that, Madrid, and Liverpool’s other rivals for Bellingham, are said to have ‘ground to make up’ on the Reds.
Liverpool desperate to land their top target
Wow, what a piece of Friday morning news this is! Liverpool’s pursuit of Bellingham has been dominating headlines for months now, but this could be a break through.
The young man is by far and away the Reds top target for their midfield revamp.
One thing we know about Liverpool is that when they set their eyes on a target, they usually end up getting them.
An excpetion to this rule was last summer’s pursuit of French midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni. Having identified the 22-year-old as the perfect signing, they were then out-manouvered by Real Madrid.

With that in mind, it appears that the club are now doing everything possible to ensure that doesn’t happen for a second time.
Should they pull it off, it would be some coup. There are other, richer clubs who would love to sign Bellingham. He’s one of football’s most sought after young players and would begin to remedy Liverpool’s midfield problem virtually overnight.
There’s still some way to go in this one though, and Madrid in particular won’t go quietly. But after missing out on Tchouameni, and suffering the heartache of Paris and Kyiv, this would be a major win for Liverpool over Los Blancos.
