Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp wants to sign RB Leipzig midfielder Konrad Laimer in the January transfer window.
That’s according to Sky Sports. They claim that Liverpool are ‘working to sign’ a midfielder during the New Year. Laimer is reportedly now ‘on the list’ as a means to that end.
The 25-year-old, who was heavily linked with a move to Anfield in the summer, is out of contract in June 2023. But with Bayern Munich also reportedly interested in Laimer, Liverpool are said to be bringing their interest forward six months.
It’s claimed that the Austrian is ‘interested’ in a move to the Premier League. Although he’s currently out injured, he should reportedly be fit for January.
Sky also suggest that as well as making a winter addition, Liverpool have plans for ‘significant investment’ next summer.

Laimer still on Liverpool’s list
This doesn’t look like a rumour that will go away any time soon. Laimer emerged as one of Liverpool’s preferences for a midfield addition towards the end of the summer.
As they desperately scrambled to find a last-minute midfielder, the Leipzig man stood out as a sensible candidate.
Unfortunately, the move never happened. As a result of his club reportedly being unwilling to sanction the creation of a late hole in their squad, Laimer stayed put.
However, that was always going to be a temporary fix. The Austria international will leave one way or another in 2023.

And not before time, too. Laimer has looked ready for to join one of European football’s big boys for a while now.
His all-action displays in midfield have seen him labelled as a ‘pressing machine’ via bulinews.com. He’s primed to add life into a listless looking Liverpool.
As it turns out, Laimer is also a big fan of the Reds as well. Speaking to Servus TV via Bild in September, the midfielder admitted that he’d ‘always’ been a fan of Liverpool.
“I’m generally a football fan. I generally like to watch the Premier League. I’ve always been a fan of Liverpool,” he said. Interesting! Don’t take your eyes of this one.
