Liverpool have made initial contact about a move for Floreninto Luis, according to reports. The Benfica midfielder looks like a star.

This comes from Record in Portugal. They claim that Liverpool really like the look of Florentino Luis and believe they could sign him from Benfica.

At least, they’re looking to see if it’s possible. Record claims there has been initial contact between the Reds and the player’s people. They want to know what the likelihood is.

In terms of a fee, Florentino just signed a new contract with Benfica that includes a £104m release clause. There’s little suggestion that the club would actually demand all of that – but they do hold the power over any transfer.

This might be one to watch in 2023.

Liverpool want Florentino Luis

Liverpool seem to really like the Portuguese Primeira Liga. Both Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez arrived from there this year, for one, while ther have been reports of interest in other star players from the league.

In fact, the Reds are currently being linked with Florentino’s Benfica teammate, Enzo Fernández. The pair of them are impressing for the Portuguese giants and it seems Liverpool really like what they’re bringing.

As they hunt for new midfielders, Florentino and Fernández appear to be interesting possibilities. It’s highly unlikely that Benfica would sell both but one of them? There’s always a chance.

Though, we can’t see anything happening in January. Florentino just signed that new contract, after all, and Fernández only joined Benfica at the start of this year. Both feel far more likely signings for the summer.

And so the list of possible midfield signings continues to grow. Jude Bellingham tops it, of course, but we’ve seen talk of Fede Valverde, Nico Barella, Sander Berge and others. Liverpool have one hell of a shortlist here.
