Kylian Mbappe was asked at a charity event on Wednesday whether he prefers Liverpool or Real Madrid.
According to RMC Sport, the PSG forward was attending an event in Nimes for his ‘Inspired by KM’ association. With children in the audience invited to ask questions, one queried which of last season’s Champions League finalists he likes better.
But rather than commit to Liverpool or their conquerors in Paris, Madrid, Mbappe reportedly ‘displayed a broad smile.’ The 23-year-old then announced that he would not be answering questions on his future.
Liverpool have been rumoured to be in the running to be Mbappe’s next club should he leave PSG next year.
The Mbappe 2023 saga begins
This was a cheeky question from the child in the audience. But it was well worth asking with all the uncertainty over Mbappe’s future.
Unfortunately, the budding young journalist was delivered a straight bat from Kylian on this occasion. So close to a major scoop, too.
In all seriousness, Mbappe might have to get used to these kinds of questions. After seemingly ending speculation about his time at PSG this summer by signing a new contract, he now reportedly wants out again.
As they were in the past, Liverpool are one of the names constantly being mentioned with regards to a move.
Although it would seem like a no-go for the Reds rather frugal owners, that hasn’t stopped the rumour-mill going into overdrive.
If Mbappe doesn’t publicly change his stance, that is only going to ramp up even further. There’s a World Cup on the horizon and the Frenchman will have his eye on back-to-back titles.
Whatever happens in Qatar, you’d imagine Mbappe will be a very visible presence. With the January transfer window approaching, the speculation is bound to reach unbearable levels.
Nobody can rule anything out in football with absolute certainty, we know that. But if Mbappe does turn it on at this winter’s tournament, save yourself the trouble Reds and don’t get too excited.
