Kylian Mbappé requests a January transfer from PSG, according to reports, and Liverpool are the only viable option. Real Madrid don’t even have a say.
The striker signed a new contract earlier this year but, per Marca’s report, several promises were ‘unfeasible’. Six months on, it seems Mbappé isn’t happy with his situation.
PSG know exactly what’s up and have agreed to work with their star asset in order to facilitate a transfer. But with one condition – they won’t sell to Real Madrid.
Real attempted to sign Mbappé on a free transfer before his new contract. The way things went led to a complete breakdown between PSG and Real.
That supposedly leaves Liverpool as the only viable option here. The Reds were long reported as being in the running for Mbappé but couldn’t get it done. If he truly wants to leave, Anfield may be his only real destination.
Liverpool and option as Kylian Mbappé requests transfer
This is complete madness for several reasons and we’re not sure it’s possible to cover them all. For starters, he signed this contract a few months ago – why would PSG already agree he can leave? Is that even a contract?
Also, how much would they want for arguably the biggest talent on the planet? Because it’s hard to see them asking for anything under £150m. We doubt Liverpool could even afford that.
Especially when Liverpool signed Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz this year. The Reds have so many forwards that signing another one would be made, especially when that forward would cost your yearly budget.
And on top of it all, Mbappé is the highest-paid player on the planet and it’s by a distance. Per Forbes, he earns more from PSG than any other player earns total – so, including outside earnings from endorsements.
Asking for a transfer would suggest that money isn’t the issue here, admittedly. At the same time, he’d have to take a ridiculous pay-cut to move anywhere else. That’s just the reality.
But assuming PSG don’t ask for much, Mbappé takes the biggest pay-cut in history and Jurgen Klopp figures out how to make 4-1-5 work, yeah. We’d be on board.
