The latest Kylian Mbappé news could help Liverpool land Jude Bellingham. The Frenchman will dominate transfers in 2023.
Marca, among many others, reported this week that Kylian Mbappé wants to leave Paris Saint-Germain. Liverpool were immediately linked with the player, too, as the Spanish paper suggested the Reds could be the only viable option.
Mbappé supposedly ‘really liked Liverpool’ as an option before signing his PSG contract, too. Le Parisien even claimed they might have the money to make it happen.
Jeunes Footeux, however, believe FSG ‘smiled’ when learning of the rumours because it definitely won’t happen. Mbappé is too expensive, it seems, which was always a problem when he’s under contract at PSG.
So if Liverpool aren’t signing Mbappé, perhaps they can play this in a different way. Maybe, they can use the situation to sign Jude Bellingham.
Kylian Mbappé news can help Liverpool
Real Madrid wanted Mbappé before he signed his new contract. In fact, PSG’s late offer to their striker was to stop him going there, per the Athletic. As we wrote at the time, that would always screw Liverpool over. With no Mbappé to go for, Los Blancos needed a new transfer target to spend big on – and they picked Aurélien Tchouaméni.
Liverpool wanted the midfielder, too, but Real went above and beyond to get him once Mbappé was off the table. Perhaps the opposite can happen now.
Mbappé could be back on the table, after all, as he looks to push through a transfer. “Real Madrid I think are still his preference, of course,” Julien Laurens told CBS Sports this week. They’ll surely get involved.

And if that happens, they won’t have the money to spend big elsewhere. Real, though, are also Liverpool’s primary rivals for Jude Bellingham in 2023.
Borussia Dortmund would lean towards selling to Real, says Cadena SER, while the player prefers Liverpool. With Real potentially out of the race, though, it would leave the Reds are overwhelming favourites to sign the player.
Bellingham is a ‘special talent’, in the words of Andros Townsend, but with so many quality midfield players already at Real, we imagine they’d opt for Mbappé. This mess of a situation may not push the Frenchman to Anfield but it could end up benefitting Liverpool anyway.
