Jamie Carragher laid into Kylian Mbappé over his ego after the player requested a transfer from PSG. Liverpool are linked.
Marca claimed on Tuesday that Kylian Mbappé wants to leave Paris Saint-Germain in the summer. He feels promises have already been broken after he signed a world-record contract back in May.
Interestingly, they name Liverpool as arguably the only viable option for a transfer. There were plenty of links between the Reds and Mbappé before that contract.
But this news comes as a shock – especially ahead of the World Cup next month. Jamie Carragher believes it reflects very poorly on Mbappé as a person. PSG, he says, may need to say ‘no’.
“The thing I have, is that why’s this coming out now?” Carragher told CBS Sports. “They’ve got a Champions League game tonight.
“Things like this, I just think for me, we all love him as a player – he’s amazing. But there’s too much ego, power for a 24-year-old player. Who is one of the best players in the world, but it’s too much for a young player.
“Someone needs to just tell him ‘no'”.
Kylian Mbappé criticised for ego
There has been a lot of criticism on Mbappé for this – and maybe it’s completely right. At the end of the day, though, we don’t know what PSG told him back in May. It’s entirely possible that they have broken promises they made to get him to sign that contract.

But it’s not a good look. Our desire to absolve Mbappé may be born out of pure hope that he moves to Merseyside – and that’s not hope born out of much.
Because really, Liverpool would be crazy to try and sign the striker this winter. It makes little to no sense. But maybe, if they try really hard, they can justify it.
