Juventus are now closely tracking reported Liverpool transfer target Douglas Luiz.
That’s according to Calciomercato, who claim that the Italian club ‘like’ the Aston Villa man and are now ‘tracking him closely.’
Luiz is out of contract next summer after Villa rejected a Liverpool bid on deadline day. Juve reportedly see a ‘great opportunity’ to get the player on a free transfer next summer.
This follows news from Calciomercato yesterday that Roma are also keen on bringing the Brazilian to Serie A in 2023.

Liverpool face competition for Luiz
Luiz emerged as a surprise candidate for Liverpool’s midfield emergency right at the end of the summer transfer window.
It isn’t that the 24-year-old is a bad player as such, it’s more that he has somewhat lost his way at Aston Vila recently.
He was labelled ‘outstanding’ by then manager Dean Smith via BBC Sport upon signing for the club in 2019. And in fairness to the Brazil international, he showed up to that tag during his early days in the Premier League.
But over the last year or so he hasn’t always been in the team. Perhaps that’s a reflection of Luiz’s contract situation, but it does mean that his name cropping up in regard to Liverpool was a bit underwhelming.

That being said, Liverpool may need two or three new midfielders come the summertime. If they blow big money on Jude Bellingham, they might need to add a couple of value options.
The Reds obviously rate Luiz having reportedly tried to sign him on deadline day. It looks like he’ll be available for nothing and, as a result, could be a smart signing.
If these reports are anything to go by, they won’t be alone in that thought process, though.
