‘A really important bullet point’: Romano shares when Liverpool will learn ‘the price tag’ for Jude Bellingham

Fabrizio Romano says Liverpool do want Jude Bellingham, but no one yet knows his price. The journalist says that could change soon.

Fabrizio Romano took to YouTube on Wednesday as he delivered an update on Jude Bellingham. The Borussia Dortmund midfielder is arguably the most in-demand talent on the planet.

Indeed, Europe’s best clubs will line up to try and sign him next year. Liverpool are one of those, as Romano makes clear.

“Liverpool will be there for Jude Bellingham,” he states – but they face competition from the likes of Manchester City and Real Madrid.

There’s one crucial factor that isn’t clear, however – Bellingham’s price. Plenty have speculated on what Dortmund could ask for but there’s no definitive amount. Romano offers an apparent reason as to why.

“Borussia Dortmund are not negotiating with any club as of today – there are no talks ongoing,” he says. “Borussia Dortmund will make a final price after the World Cup because there is no clause in the contract of Jude Bellingham. No official clause is included and so they can make the price.

“They know, of course, that when many top clubs are jumping on the player it’s normal to understand that he’s going to leave next summer.

“But Borussia Dortmund will discuss it after the World Cup because his performances could influence the price tag. This is a really important bullet point of the story.”

Jude Bellingham price

We’ve long advocated for Bellingham as a signing and believe he should be Liverpool’s first £100m signing. No one else has ticked the boxes quite as he does – from being in the right position, the right fit, the talent and boasting homegrown status.

Thus there’s no reasonable price Dortmund could set that would turn us away. We imagine Liverpool feel the same, given this one feels too perfect to ignore.

£200m would obviously be a bit much but we can’t imagine Dortmund would get close to a world-record fee. Instead, we await Dortmund’s decision – but it shouldn’t have too much bearing on Liverpool’s plans.
