Fabio Carvalho put in a sharp training performance for Liverpool ahead of the match vs Bournemouth this weekend. The teenager could start.
We wrote in the wake of Monday’s defeat that Fabio Carvalho should be in for a weekend start. Liverpool face Bournemouth, of course, and the youngster could inject the dynamism that was sorely lacking at Old Trafford.
The Liverpool Echo believe he’s in contention, at least, and Thursday’s training suggests Carvalho is sharp. He put in an impressive performance as Liverpool released their Inside Training for the 25th.
The footage shows Carvalho scoring a fine strike from outside the box, earning a pretty loud ‘Yes Fabio!’ from one teammate. A nice little finish later on gets a ‘nice one, Fabio’ from a coach, too.
There’s a great wide delivery in there and some neat touches – just a player looking sharp. And after Monday, that’s exactly what Liverpool need.
Fabio Carvalho looks sharp ahead of Liverpool vs Bournemouth
As we wrote in our early predicted lineup for the weekend, Carvalho could be exactly what Liverpool are after. They struggled badly to move the ball through defensive lines against Manchester United, relying too heavily on Harvey Elliott.

But a second technical playmaker would ease the pressure on Elliott. It would also make Liverpool a lot more difficult to stop with the ball. That’s been a major concern over these first three games.
And giving Carvalho a look is far from the worst idea right now. Phil Thompson is convinced that Liverpool have a ‘sensational’ player in the teenager and the more games he gets, the faster he can realise that potential.
A start at Anfield against a newly-promoted side is the easiest time to throw Carvalho in, too. Especially as numbers are thin as it is. We’d like to see a little change after Monday, the 19-year-old looks sharp and we think Liverpool would be better for it.
All makes sense to us.
