Calvin Ramsay and Fabinho both react after Liverpool make announcement yesterday

Liverpool duo Calvin Ramsay and Fabinho were just two of the players wishing Tyler Morton well as he joined Blackburn Rovers on-loan.

The pair took to Morton’s Instagram post after Liverpool’s announcement of his move yesterday.

“All the best mate,” wrote Fabinho, while Ramsay went with “Good luck mate.” Other players, such as Jordan Henderson, Curtis Jones, Andy Robertson and Caoimhin Kelleher all sent wishes to their young teammate.

Morton will be hoping to make an impact at Blackburn as he seeks regular game-time for his development.

Morton moves on, for now

It had been expected that Morton would join Blackburn following the conclusion of Liverpool’s pre-season schedule.

Perhaps it would have benefitted both Morton and his new club to get the deal done a little earlier in the summer. But after injury to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Liverpool needed the academy youngster to make up the numbers.

In the end, the 19-year-old ended up getting some decent playing time throughout The Reds’ warm-up matches. Morton was somewhat eclipsed in midfield by the emerging Stefan Bajcetic, but he still generally did well.

He’s an often calming presence in the middle of the pitch, and tends to use the ball intelligently.

Where Morton could improve slightly is on his physicality. Hopefully playing week-in-week-out in the Championship can give him the extra athleticism he slightly lacks.

It will be interesting to see exactly how Rovers plan to use the youngster. Jurgen Klopp has used him in the no.6 role at Liverpool, but recently suggested he’s more at home as an ‘8.’

Where he plays whilst in the Championship should hint at where Liverpool see his long-term future being. It also should open the door for Bajcetic to feature for the first-team at some point this season.

All the best Tyler, go and smash it.
