Liverpool can sign Brazilian wonderkid Endrick for £51m after he signed a new contract on his 16th birthday.
According to Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, the reported Liverpool target signed the deal with Palmeiras today. It will reportedly run until 2025 and contains a relatively achievable release clause.
Romano also claims that there’s already a battle between ‘top European clubs’ for his signature.
Liverpool have repeatedly been linked with a move for the youngster over the last few months.
Liverpool in the running for Endrick
If Liverpool really are in for Endrick, then perhaps the £51m fee wouldn’t put them off. It’s obviously enormously high for a player so young, but given his potential, it could end up being a steal.
As recently as last month, journalist Jorge Nicola claimed via his YouTube channel that Liverpool have already made contact with Palmeiras over Endrick.
The youngster shot to fame for his goal-scoring performances in the Copa Sao Paulo last year.
As with many young South Brazilians, the expectation should be that one of either Barcelona or Real Madrid will snap him up.
But Liverpool have plenty of South American flavour these days. Their status as one of the best football environments in the world has been restored and in Jurgen Klopp they have a manager who trusts youth.
The Reds now know how much they’ll have to pay to get a seat at the table. Let’s see if they deem Endrick’s potential talents to be worth the gamble.
