Liverpool are one of several clubs in the running for Endrick, according to reports. The teenager is an absolute phenomenon in Brazil.

Sky Sports claim Liverpool are looking to sign Palmeiras youngster Endrick in 2022. Endrick is no ordinary young player, however – he’s a 15-year-old who’s already looking like a star.

Endrick starred at the 2022 Copinha in Brazil. It’s an Under 20 competition but a serious one and highlights the best up-and-coming stars in the country. Despite being five years under the age limit, Endrick managed to not only shine but win the Best Player award as Palmeiras won the trophy.

He also did this in the quarter-final:

We’re talking about someone very special here, then, and it’s no surprise that every major club has eyes on Endrick. Sky mention Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City alongside Liverpool, with Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain also keeping tabs on the teenager.

Palmeiras know what they’ve got, too, and want a club-record fee in any sale. The current record stands at £29.3m from selling Gabriel Jesus to City, so Endrick is costing at least £30m.

Will Liverpool sign Endrick?

It seems unlikely. Signing any teenager is a risk as there’s never any real guarantee that they develop correctly. How many young players have shone incredibly brightly in their youth and then burned out just as rapidly? It’s a lot.

Paying £30m for a 15-year-old, then, is an enormous risk and really only one that spectacularly rich – or desperate – clubs will take. We just can’t see Liverpool being one of those. Marca claim that Real Madrid might, though, as they look to replicate the success of Vinicius Jr.

In fact, they’ve apparently got that well underway as Vinicius is already in contact with Endrick and sending him Real Madrid shirts. It certainly sounds like they’ve got an upper hand here.

But here’s the important bit. No European club can actually sign Endrick until he’s 18 and he doesn’t even turn 16 until the summer. Any deal for him will be two years in advance – a pre-agreement, essentially, that can happen once he agrees professional terms with Palmeiras at 16.

That, to us at least, doesn’t sound like the kind of deal Liverpool do. £30m for a player they won’t see for two years and who may never even reach great heights.

As exciting as the possibility is, we’re just not sure Liverpool are the ones to go for it.
