Fabio Carvalho has admitted that his dad is a big fan of new Liverpool signing Darwin Nunez.

After being officially unveiled as a Liverpool player yesterday, Carvalho sat down for an interview with liverpoolfc.com. When asked how he’s looking forward to linking up with Nunez, Carvalho claimed it’s his dad who’s the most excited.

“Yeah, he (Nunez) is good,” said the 19-year-old. “My dad is a big fan of Benfica as well and he loves him! So, I’m sure my dad is happy as well that I’ll be able to play with him. He’s a great signing and I’m sure I’ll be too.”

It’s great to have Carvalho finally officially on board. It sounds as though Liverpool’s new number 28 he can’t wait to get going, too.

Fabio finally a red

Carvalho’s unveiling as a Liverpool player has felt like a long time coming. Now that he’s finally through the doors at the AXA Training Centre, he can start to sparkle.

The Portugal U21 star may not have a big fee attached to him, but big things are still expected of him next season.

There had been some suggestions that the teenager could be in-line for a loan move. However, those were quickly quashed, and he looks set to make up part of Jurgen Klopp’s new-look attack in 2022/23.

Alongside Nunez, he will be tasked with making up for the departures of Sadio Mane, Takumi Minamino and Divock Origi.

That remit will begin today as he reports for pre-season training. Although he was involved in the summer internationals for the Portugal underage side, Carvalho will make up part of the first group returning to the AXA.

He and his dad will have to wait a little longer to link-up with Nunez. The Uruguayan striker is due for his first day of Liverpool training over the coming weekend.
