Liverpool could reportedly have three major transfers lined up for 2023 already. It’s set to be a massive summer for the Reds.

No matter what, 2023 promises to be an important summer for Liverpool. Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino both have expiring contracts, as do Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita.

Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip and Thiago will turn 32, Jordan Henderson 33 and James Milner 37. It promises to be a summer of change and one where Liverpool look to invest in their future.

So with that in mind, what might they do? Well, here are three transfers Liverpool reportedly like for 2023.

Liverpool transfers in 2023

Matthijs de Ligt

TuttomercatowebCalciomercato, and Corrire dello Sport all mention Liverpool as wanting Matthijs de Ligt. He’s an interesting situation, too, as his contract expires in 2024. That could force Juventus into a discount sale.

De Ligt would be a sensational long-term replacement for Van Dijk or Matip. There’s quite obviously a world-class partnership with Ibrahima Konaté there if Liverpool want it.

The only real question is whether he’s still available. Juventus could sell this summer, especially as Corriere Dello Sport say he’s put in a transfer request.

Marco Asensio

AS believe that Liverpool have told Marco Asensio that they want him. The key part there could be that they’ve not told him that there’s an incoming bid. Asensio is out of contract in 2023 and it might be that the Reds fancy him as a free transfer.

Certainly, Real Madrid’s reported asking price of £34m is steep for a player they don’t regularly start. We can understand Liverpool wanting to ignore that and simply wait for his contract to expire.

We think there’s a real justification to signing him, too. Asensio could help carry Liverpool into their next era.

Jude Bellingham

The Times claims that Liverpool want a midfielder in 2023. The suggestion is that it will be a big signing that they’re willing to wait for. We immediately assumed that Jude Bellingham would be the target and both the Mirror and Fabrizio Romano believe that’s the case.

Above all, Bellingham would be the star transfer in 2023 and the one Liverpool must chase. He ticks every box imaginable and no matter what happens, signing him would make the window a successful one.
