'One of the top three': Diego Forlan insists 'amazing' Liverpool man is one of the absolute best in the world

Former Manchester United striker Diego Forlan has claimed that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is one of the best coaches in the world.

Forlan was speaking to 90min about his compatriot Darwin Nunez’s arrival at Liverpool. The Uruguayan legend insisted that Nunez will benefit from having a coach as good as Klopp.

“He’s (Nunez) going to a team with an amazing manager that knows football very well” said the 43-year-old. “How to attack the space, how to use his players and how to get the best out of them. He’s going to a team with a coach that is one of the top three in Europe and the world.”

“To be honest, it’s an incredible team to play in, let’s hope he can take advantage of that and that he can keep growing as he has been lately. He has taken big steps and, hopefully, our national team will be able to take advantage of that as well.”

Careful, Diego, there’s a few United fans who perhaps won’t tolerate that kind of praise coming Liverpool’s way!

Forlan has highlighted exactly why Liverpool fans have such faith in their team’s recruitment.

Klopp has proved time after time that he will improve near-enough every signing who walks through the door at Liverpool.

The German has a track-record that is unparalleled in turning good players into superstars.

That’s why Klopp himself is so excited to work with Nunez. In his current form, he is maybe even more talented than the likes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane were when they joined the club.

He has all the raw materials to push himself on several levels, and Klopp can see that.

It won’t work out every time and of course the player has to buy into the manager’s ideas. But by the sound of it, Darwin has already been sold on what to expect at Liverpool.

There’s no need to add extra pressure to the 22-year-old, he already comes with a massive price-tag after all.

But usually when Liverpool go all-in for a player, it’s because Klopp has given the go-ahead. He obviously likes what he sees from Darwin and that in itself is an exciting prospect.
