Jurgen Klopp is absolutely delighted that Darwin Nunez has joined Liverpool. The boss explained just why this is all ‘so exciting’.
Darwin Nunez is a Liverpool player. The Reds officially announced it on Tuesday and the Uruguayan will wear no.27 at Anfield next season.
It’s a transfer that brings an incredible amount of excitement. After all, there’s potential for this to be Liverpool’s club-record signing if all goes to plan. While Nunez doesn’t quite hit that point just yet, he could do one day.
One person who’s certainly excited about it all is Jurgen Klopp. The Liverpool boss gave an interview on Nunez as the club confirmed his signing and it’s safe to say he was behind the deal.
It’s “really super news”, according to Klopp and he sees one reason, in particular, for why this is “so exciting”.
Jurgen Klopp on Darwin Nunez
“Darwin is a wonderful player; already really good but so much potential to get even better,” said Klopp, per Liverpoolfc.com. “That’s why it’s so exciting, to be honest.
“His age, his desire, his hunger to be even better than he currently is. His belief in our project and what we are looking to do as a club.”
We wholeheartedly agree and Nunez’s age was one of the reasons this transfer made sense to us. He’s already scored 32 goals in the Primeira Liga, already troubled major sides in the Champions League and he’s still only 22.
There’s incredible potential here. Liverpool have a habit of making players better, after all, and Nunez shouldn’t be any different. Play their cards right and the Reds will end up with a world-class player for the long-term here.
This is one to celebrate, then. Nunez is a Red and could go on to become something very, very special.
