Liverpool must now sign Jude Bellingham as another alternative is set to move

Liverpool simply must complete a deal to sign Jude Bellingham as alternative options continue to be snapped up. The Reds are running out of options.

It’s starting to appear that Liverpool signing Jude Bellingham is an all-or-nothing transfer. The Times claims that the Reds won’t move for a midfielder this summer but plan on doing so in 2023.

Our instinct there is that it points to Bellingham as their primary option. He won’t move in 2022 but next year looks very possible – and the timing suits Liverpool.

And the Mirror believes that pretty much is the case. Liverpool love Bellingham and want to fund a big-money move for the player in a year’s time.

But it’s increasingly looking like a transfer they can’t fail to compete, which is difficult when you’re talking about one of the game’s biggest talents. The competition will be fierce and Liverpool can’t take any transfer for granted.

However, if they fail, we have no idea what direction the Reds would head in.

Liverpool must sign Jude Bellingham

Liverpool have been linked with other top midfielders, of course. There was a lot of speculation that they wanted Aurélien Tchouaméni from AS Monaco but the Frenchman went to Real Madrid.

Then there’s Gavi. Liverpool apparently put in a massive bid to try and sway him from Barcelona but again, he’s picking Spain.

Record linked the Reds with FC Porto’s Vitinha back in March as he had a £34m release clause – and they weren’t the only ones. Now Fabrizio Romano claims he’s close to joining Paris Saint-Germain.

The Mirror started last season by saying Liverpool liked Yves Bissouma but he’s just joined Tottenham Hotspur.

It’s very difficult to see who could possibly be the backup option to Bellingham, then. We’re sure Liverpool could find someone somewhere but they certainly won’t be on the same level.

And that’s quite scary. Liverpool desperately need the right midfield signing as they hunt for a successor to Jordan Henderson and Thiago. Both are past 30 and with questionable fitness records – they may not last too long.

We completely support the idea of going all-in on Bellingham next summer and he’d be worth every moment of waiting. It’s just one Liverpool can’t really afford to get wrong.
