Barcelona star Ronaldo Araujo has congratulated his ‘beautiful friend’ Darwin Nunez on completing his move to Liverpool.
Taking to Twitter following Nunez’s unveiling on Tuesday, Araujo had some kind words for his Uruguay teammate.
“What a beautiful friend,” wrote the 23-year-old. “Humility, Work, Believe in your potential. You are an example. God bless you and may the successes continue!”
May the successes continue indeed!
Liverpool in for Araujo
If reports from earlier this year are to be believed, Liverpool were planning on bring Araujo to Anfield alongside his countryman.
Before signing a new contract in April, Araujo was claimed to be courting the interest of The Reds.
As late as March, Liverpool were being mentioned as potential suitors for the centre-back. It was even claimed that he had been offered a deal at Anfield.

If there was interest from Liverpool, it eventually came to nothing. Araujo signed a lucrative deal to stay at Barca, and looks set to be a mainstay for many years to come.
Slotting into the squad
Nunez has received many messages of support since rocking up at Anfield earlier in the week.
His Benfica teammates were sorry to see him go, and former Liverpool hero Luis Suarez has also shared his support on social media.
It all points to Darwin being a popular member of whatever dressing room he’s in. This is an important trait to have at any club, but particularly at Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp places huge stock in harmony in the squad off the field.
If Nunez is to replace Sadio Mane, this is doubly important. Having been around the club for six years, Mane will leave a big hole in the dressing room dynamic.
All the early signs are good that Nunez is capable of stepping into his shoes, both on and off the pitch.
