Darwin Nunez has started following potential new Liverpool teammate Roberto Firmino on Instagram.
That’s according to The Daily Mail, who report that the Liverpool target has been taking a keen interest in Bobby’s social media activity.
After following Liverpool’s number 9, the 22-year-old then proceeded to ‘like’ his latest post.
Firmino is back home in Brazil after failing to make the national team squad for the end of season friendlies. The £29m man could be seen giving a sermon at a local church, which has caught the eye of Liverpool’s top transfer target.
Nunez hints at Liverpool arrival
Of course these days, this is one sure-fire way to get the rumour mill spinning into a frenzy.
It may have been just an innocent move from Nunez, but given the context of the situation, it feels very deliberate.

The Reds are currently locked in a battle with Manchester United for the Uruguayans services. Any hint of favouritism towards Liverpool will be jumped on by supporters as a sign that he’s Anfield bound.
According to Portuguese based journalist Pedro Sepulveda, Nunez has already pretty much made his decision. He spoke yesterday to claim it would be ‘very difficult’ to convince the player that his future lies anywhere other than Liverpool.
The Athletic also reported yesterday that personal terms are already sorted with the player. If Liverpool can agree the structure of the deal with Benfica, hopefully that should get them their man.
This is a transfer that has moved very quickly over the last two or three days. With both parties seemingly wanting to get the move sealed as soon as possible, this could yet be sorted by the end of the week.
Nunez will play his final game of the season tomorrow night against Panama for Uruguay. With the game set for a 9pm start, perhaps he’ll already be a Liverpool player by that stage.
