Arnaut Danjuma has insisted that he would consider a move to Liverpool if they were to make a move to sign him.
Speaking to Ziggo Sport via Voetbal Primeur, the Villarreal forward also claimed that he knows Liverpool are tracking him closely.
“I’m always as honest as possible about it, I’ve never had any contact with clubs or anything like that during the season,” said Danjuma.
“I always don’t know about my situation until after the season. I don’t want to be involved in it at all during the season. But I have been informed that Liverpool followed me closely.”
Reacting to his own claim, the Holland international said that if a club such as Liverpool did come in for him, he’d certainly give it thought.
“I’ll never lie, I think it’s a bad trait if you’re not ambitious. And if a club were to come along that offers me a higher platform to play, I should always consider that,” said the 25-year-old.

Danjuma on Liverpool’s radar
It was reported that Liverpool were indeed looking to bring Danjuma to Anfield last summer. In the end though, it never happened and he moved to Villarreal instead.
That move turned out to be a masterstroke from the Spanish club. Danjuma’s goals fired them to the Champions League semi-final where Liverpool brought their dream to and end.
All in all, he scored 16 goals in 34 games for the Yellow Submarine. A pretty decent record which completely justified Liverpool’s reported interest in him.
With Sadio Mane now reportedly looking to leave Anfield, it could be that The Reds reignite their interest once more.
A realistic move for Liverpool
The Dutchman reportedly has a release clause of around £45m, which would very much be in Liverpool’s reach.
Danjuma talking up Liverpool’s interest in the press is probably not a good sign of that though. His desire to bring the club up in connection with his name suggests that the boat has possibly been and gone for him.
Having said that, Liverpool do tend to follow targets for a little while. If other targets aren’t presently available, perhaps they will answer Danjuma’s come and get me plea after all.
