Conor Coady was baffled at the treatment he received from Liverpool fans whilst playing at Anfield on Sunday.
Speaking to wolves.co.uk, the former Liverpool player said he couldn’t understand why he was targeted by boos from the home crowd.
“I do get a few when I come here, to be honest,” said Coady after the game. “I don’t really know what they expect when I’m coming here with Wolves and I want to win every game.”
As Wolves captain, it’s an understandable take from Coady. If Liverpool were looking for favours yesterday, they were never going to come from him. He is a boyhood red though, and it’s obvious that the admonishment from his fellow Scousers hurt him.

No favours from Wolves
Liverpool could be forgiven for thinking they might have a bit more of a straight-forward game yesterday.
Wolves have been tricky opponents for many team this season, Liverpool included. But they had one win in their last eight games heading to Anfield and had nothing left to play for.
The chance to affect the destination of the title seems to have been motivation enough, though. They came flying out of the blocks and were ahead within two minutes. Plenty of openings to add to Pedro Neto’s goal were created, but not taken.

In the end Liverpool proved too strong. The atmosphere tailed off a bit though. Had they been able to get that all-important go-ahead goal while Manchester City were still losing though, the outcome in the bigger picture might have been different.
Nerves would no doubt have filtered through to the Etihad. Instead, by the time Liverpool got their goal, City had already turned the deficit around and had the title in their sights.
When the winners are decided on such fine margins, that’s the kind of thing that can make a difference. Not to be this time for Liverpool.
So, Wolves bear witness to Liverpool falling at the final hurdle at Anfield for the second time in four years. When the fixtures are released for next season, let’s hope Bruno Lage’s side are not back again next May.
