Rumoured Liverpool transfer target Jarrod Bowen has been nominated for the Premier League Player of the Season award.

As reported by liverpoolfc.com, Bowen will face-off with Liverpool pair Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold for the award.

Also included on the shortlist are Manchester City duo Joao Cancelo and Kevin De Bruyne. Tottenham’s Son Heung-Min makes the cut as well as James Ward-Prowse and Bukayo Saka.

Alexander-Arnold has also been nominated the Young Player of the Season award.

Some Reds unlucky to miss out

Obviously there is plenty of Liverpool involvement in the list. The only surprise is that perhaps there should have been even more.

Alisson Becker can count himself unlucky to miss out. Virgil Van Dijk and Sadio Mane are two more who should maybe have made the cut.

Salah will surely be the early favourite after picking up the FWA Footballer of the Year award. But his poor form in 2022 could maybe see him lose out to Kevin De Bruyne.

Liverpool scouts on the money again

It also isn’t a big surprise to see Bowen included. The West Ham United man is one of only three players to hit double figures for goals and assists in the Premier League.

Throughout, and even before, his excellent season, Liverpool have been reported to be watching on.

The Athletic reported The Reds interest last summer. At the time it’s fair to say there wasn’t too much excitement over the potential transfer. But it looks like the Liverpool scouts were bang on the money yet again.

It seems unlikely that Liverpool will go back in for Bowen this summer. The Reds may still be looking for an attacker to supplement their existing options, but his price will have sky-rocketed.

Confirmation of his Premier League Player of the Season nomination will surely only add to that. You never know though, he’s obviously a player of interest to Liverpool.

Klopp even called him ‘unbelievable’ via The Daily Mail in March. The manager has a big say in who Liverpool move for in the window. If Klopp’s smitten with Bowen, there could still be a chance he ends up at Anfield.
