Newcastle United are now in the race for Liverpool target Jarrod Bowen, according to reports. The Reds are big fans of the player.

This comes from 90min. They claim that Newcastle United are ready to compete with anyone for West Ham United star Jarrod Bowen.

The Englishman is now on their shortlist for the summer as the newly-rich club attempt to make waves in the Premier League. Bowen, certainly, would be a statement of intent.

But they face fierce competition from Liverpool. Reports have linked the Reds with Bowen for some time now, dating back to the Athletic last summer.

Jurgen Klopp is actually quite open about his admiration for the player, in fact.

“Bowen – what a player he became,” Klopp told a press conference last month. “Unbelievable. We saw him as well at Hull and he was really good. But I don’t think a lot of people expected this jump. Unbelievable player.”

Liverpool, though, won’t have this one easily.

Jarrod Bowen and Liverpool

We can talk about the competition for Bowen all we like, there’s still the ‘West Ham factor’ here. As in, they won’t actually want to sell their player.

Especially as talk continues to grow that Declan Rice could move on in the summer. It’s likely a bit much to sell both stars and the Hammers certainly won’t need the money.

But if there is a deal to be done, we’d like to see Liverpool get involved. There were some raised eyebrows when reports of interest in Bowen appeared last summer. There certainly aren’t anymore – he’s gone on to have a fantastic season.

We’re big fans of the player and his numbers across this campaign speak for themselves: nine goals and eight assists in the Premier League.

It’s no surprise that Newcastle also want him, then. If West Ham truly are willing to sell come the summer, Liverpool have a fight on their hands.
