3 Liverpool players who will rub their hands as Frank Lampard promises 'fight' today

Frank Lampard says he expects ‘fight’ from his Everton players when they face Liverpool on Sunday. Here are three Reds who will be up for it.

Frank Lampard knows exactly what kind of match he wants at Anfield today – a fight. It’s the only way they’ll compete with the ‘strongest team’ in England right now.

“We’re playing the strongest team, on form teams, in the league,” he told a press conference on Friday. “You have to use that as a positive.

“We have to fight until the last minute, no matter what happens. We are the underdogs, that’s clear. But we have to fight!”.

So if that’s the kind of match we’re getting, Liverpool will want the right players involved against Everton. Here are three players we expect to start who will be well up for this one.

Trent Alexander-Arnold

We’ll start with the Scouser. Alexander-Arnold will feel this one more than anyone and we fully expect him to relish that.

And he better be. Everton will target him with that fight or he’ll tear them apart – there’s no real doubt about that. Alexander-Arnold must prepare for the physicality because if he can get the better of it, Liverpool will win this game comfortably.

Jordan Henderson

There is no player in the squad better suited for this type of game. In the words of Andy Robertson, Henderson is the one who ‘sets the tone’ in such a match, just as he did against Manchester United on Tuesday.

And Liverpool will turn to their captain again. Henderson will push the tempo, lead the press and make sure that midfield battle isn’t an issue. That’s his ultimate role in the side and it’ll come through here.

Luis Diaz

We think Jurgen Klopp will pick Diaz on the wing again and this is a game that could see him have a lot of fun. He’s shown over his first couple of months here that he thrives on a physical and loves the fight.

There’s a chance we truly see the best of Diaz in a game like this, then. He’ll relish what Everton throw at him and, fingers crossed, we hope Klopp starts him.
