Jurgen Klopp is the latest to join in the praise for Thiago after another wonderful display for Liverpool against Manchester United.
We came out of the game with Manchester City at the weekend praising Thiago. He was magnificent in that game, delivering everything Liverpool needed at Wembley.
Then Tuesday rolls around and he’s at it again. Thiago ran the show for the Reds, particularly in a dominant first-half display at Anfield.
Liverpool smashed Manchester United 4-0 at home, complementing their 5-0 win at Old Trafford earlier in the season. What more can you really ask for?
And despite just about everyone playing well, Thiago managed to catch the eye as the conductor in Red. Just for starters, he managed 129 touches of the ball, more than anyone else in the game, and that’s despite coming off on 80 minutes.
He completed 105 passes over those minutes and did so at a 95% pass completion. Miraculously, no starting player managed a higher percentage, despite Thiago playing over 100 passes. That’s unbelievable consistency.
The Spaniard passed intelligently, too. He created three chances in the game which, in a running theme, was a match-high. Thiago also had a match-high for dribbling (three) and won more tackles than any other Liverpool player (also 3).
Jurgen Klopp praises Liverpool’s Thiago
“Yes, Thiago played a good game,” Jurgen Klopp said after the game, per Liverpoolfc.com. “That’s his quality.

“With quality obviously comes responsibility, so if you are good you better play good as well. That’s what he did tonight really, again.”
Thiago was the talking point after this one – from a Liverpool perspective, anyway. Both Gary Lineker and Jamie Carragher praised him in wake of his performance.
Rightfully so, too. Thiago is playing on another level right now and all those doubts people had about him are a distant memory. A world-class player and one who can carry Liverpool to further glory this season.
