Gary Lineker had the highest praise for Thiago after the Spaniard’s display for Liverpool against Manchester United on Tuesday. The player was magic.

Thiago put in one of the best midfield halves you’ll ever see at Anfield earlier today. He took the game to Manchester United, passing them out of the game with absolute ease.

And ‘ease’ is the word here. Thiago just strolled about the pitch, cutting United to pieces and making Liverpool tick. It was a joy to watch.

His 68 touches were the most in that first half, while he also created three chances. No other player managed more than one. Two tackles – again, a high for the half – and 59 passes summed him up. It was Thiago’s game and Liverpool thrived as a result.

It was all enough for Lineker to profess his love for watching Thiago in Red. The former England star turned presenter took to Twitter for some kind words.

“Love watching Thiago,” he wrote. “Especially the disguised passes. Superb player.”

Thiago is in absolutely sensational form right now – we all love watching him play. This performance is on the back of a truly outstanding display at Wembley, too.

It’s incredible to think that it wasn’t too long ago that people doubted his suitability to this Liverpool team. The criticism was always stupidly harsh, of course, and there’s no doubting his quality now.

Liverpool truly do thrive with the Spaniard at the heart of their midfield. His connection with Fabinho and Jordan Henderson, too, is perfect and gives the side everything they could possibly want in midfield.

But there’s no hiding that Thiago looks like the star here. He’s a joy to watch, with his confidence and technique appearing to be out of this world at times. A world-class star.
