Jamie Carragher feels Thiago put in his best performance for Liverpool tonight in the Reds’ rout of Manchester United. Jurgen Klopp’s side made an incredible statement once again, tearing their old rivals to shreds at Anfield.
And Thiago, despite not getting on the scoresheet – or even an assist, for that matter – was the star man. He was in blistering form, running the game in a dominant first-half for Liverpool.
The ease in which he controlled the ball and kept the team ticking over was sensational. Some of the passes Thiago played were just out of the this world, too – the kind about three people on earth can make.
Just in the first half alone, Thiago led the game in touches, passes, created chances and tackles. Just incredible stuff and Liverpool just kept making sure the Spaniard had the ball. It was enough for Carragher to say this was the peak of Thiago at Liverpool.
“That’s the best game he’s ever had an Anfield, I’m sure of it,” he said on commentary for Sky Sports. It’s hard to disagree with that.
Thiago for Liverpool
This truly was Thiago at his best and we’ll agree with Carragher here. He ran the game in that first half, where Liverpool essentially won the game.

It was a glowing example of why the Reds wanted him in their side – someone who can dominate possession on his own and break down teams intent on stifling the space. That’s exactly what United tried to do here, playing a back five and attempting to sit four in front of it.
Thiago was the dream player to pick things apart and that he did. World-class – and on the back of a brilliant display at Wembley.
