Jurgen Klopp explained what everyone can expect from Mohamed Salah after the Liverpool star’s heartbreak with Egypt this week.

Mohamed Salah quickly returned to training with Liverpool this week, despite suffering a second consecutive disappointment with Egypt. It was the Africa Cup of Nations final back in February, ending with a penalty shoot-out defeat to Senegal.

And history repeated itself in a World Cup Play-off. Egypt once again lost on penalties to Senegal – now Salah won’t be at the World Cup.

That’s a lot for any player. Salah just hasn’t had things go his way with the national side and that naturally creates a worry for Liverpool. How will he react to all of this and is he going to have the right focus for the rest of the season?

Jurgen Klopp moved to give his take on Friday, explaining what he expects from his star player.

“I have no doubt that Mo wants to win as much as he can,” Klopp told a press conference. “That’s why he was very, very disappointed about not winning the one tournament and not qualifying for the World Cup.

“But that’s different competitions [than with us]. So his desire will rather be bigger than lesser.

“He’s a very smart person, he sees the difference between all of these things. We didn’t speak in detail about it but he knows that Senegal is a really tough team to get at the moment.

“Nobody has to worry about that – he is fine.”

Klopp’s certainly feeling confident about Salah, then. He expects a positive reaction from the Egyptian – an even stronger desire to win trophies this season

And that’s something Salah knows he can do with Liverpool. Egypt might fall just short but the Reds can propel him to the top of the game. Hopefully, we get another example of that this season.
