One German journalist believes Liverpool hold the upper hand in a race for Jude Bellingham. The midfielder could leave in 2023.
Bild journalist Sebastian Kolsberger talked to Bernabeu Digital this week about Liverpool target Jude Bellingham. Real Madrid also want the star, according to Bild itself, and there will likely be a fight for the midfielder in 2023.
That’s not going to be an easy battle for either club. Bellingham is a magnificent young talent and one that will see incredible efforts from virtually every elite club.
And yet, Kolsberger believes Liverpool might hold an upper hand here. He sees the ’emotional’ Bellingham as a better fit for the Reds.
“Jude is one of the future midfield stars and all the clubs want him,” said Kolsberger. “I think after a few years in Germany he will come back to England.
“Liverpool and [Manchester] City also want to sign him. But Jude is a very emotional player, and, therefore, I think that Liverpool have more pull to sign him.”
Jude Bellingham and Liverpool
Well, we’ll cross our fingers that he’s right on this one. We’ve talked before about Bellingham potentially being a justifiable £100m signing for Liverpool, while the timing of 2023 is just perfect.

The idea of Bellingham being an ’emotional’ player is an interesting one, too. Obviously, we like the idea that Liverpool would carry extra weight for such a person – and we know the youngster holds Steven Gerrard in great esteem.
So maybe the lure of Liverpool can outweigh the riches that Real and City potentially offer. There’s certainly a home at Anfield weighting for him. In fact, there’s not really a better player for the Reds to sign right now.
Everything we hear about the potential transfer sounds perfect. Now we just need to wait and, hopefully, see things fall into place.
