Liverpool have reportedly agreed a fee with Fulham for Fabio Carvalho right at the end of the transfer window. There’s a race against time now.

This comes from Paul Joyce. He claims that Liverpool and Fulham have agreed terms on a transfer for Fabio Carvalho.

That’s far from the end of things, however. Liverpool now face a race against time to sign the player, with just one hour remaining to get personal terms complete.

But a medical isn’t a worry – that’s apparently been ongoing for a few hours, according to the Athletic. They also believe that Carvalho will immediately join Fulham on loan for the rest of the season.

That’s almost certainly been key to any negotiation. Fulham top the Championship but face a tight race for promotion. They won’t want to lose Carvalho at this stage as he’s in simply remarkable form right now, with manager Marco Silva labelling the player a ‘natural talent’.

The playmaker looks like a player who could deliver the Championship title if he keeps things up. Liverpool clearly believe he will, with them trying so hard to sign Carvalho on deadline day.

Liverpool agree Fabio Carvalho transfer

We’ve been following this one all day, of course, and from the sounds of it, this would be brilliant business. Carvalho is out of contract in the summer but Liverpool would need to pay a tribunal fee even if they agreed a move at the end of his deal.

His form, however, will almost certainly bring more competition in. Foreign clubs are a particular threat, too, as they wouldn’t need to pay that tribunal fee. That’s almost certainly why Fulham opted to sell now – they’ll at least want something for their star asset.

Liverpool are beating the competition here, then. We’ll likely have to wait until the summer to see Carvalho in Red but it sounds as though this one will get over the line.
