Liverpool and Fulham are in discussions over Neco Williams ahead of the transfer deadline, according to reports. Fabio Carvalho talks continue.

This comes from the Athletic. They claim that Fulham and Liverpool are in last-minute discussions over Neco Williams and could strike a loan deal.

Williams has long been linked with a move away from Liverpool with his lack of first-team football. He hopes to make the Wales team for March’s World Cup qualifiers and knows a move almost certainly guarantees that.

Fulham – who currently top the Championship – feel like a perfect team for Williams to move to. He’ll get decent football while competing for a trophy and promotion, which suits everyone involved.

This is a player Liverpool trust to work hard and improve, with Jurgen Klopp once labelling him a ‘machine’. Regular football at Fulham, then, could see dramatic improvement.

Neco Williams to leave Liverpool

There’s another factor at play here – Fabio Carvalho. As per the Athletic report, Liverpool want him and hope to sign the playmaker before the end of the transfer window tonight.

We think that would be brilliant business, with the Reds possibly letting Carvalho remain on loan for the remainder of the season. The addition of Williams will surely push this one over the line.

Liverpool’s offer is guaranteed money for a player whose contract expires in the summer. They’d also allow the Championship contenders to keep him and strengthen their squad with a Wales international.

That, to us, seems like a wonderful deal for everyone involved. Carvalho is a player who is thriving right now and it’s not a shock that Liverpool want him.

With Williams, they may have found the key to getting it over the line. If all goes well, Liverpool should end up with a very talented playmaker as well as a better version of Williams by the summer.
