Trent Alexander-Arnold says his Liverpool teammate Diogo Jota is ‘world-class’ after what he did vs Arsenal. The forward ran riot.
Liverpool travelled to face Arsenal on Thursday knowing they needed a win. That was no easy task, given they struggled to break them down at Anfield a week ago.
This would be a different game, however. For one, Arsenal couldn’t sit back and soak up pressure – they needed a win themselves. Liverpool were happy to take advantage of that, too, and, in particular, Diogo Jota.
Trent Alexander-Arnold combined with Jota twice to win this game for Liverpool. The full-back provided both assists as the Portugal forward ran riot with one goal in each half.
The first saw Roberto Firmino set Alexander-Arnold through in midfield. He drew defenders towards him before firing the ball left for Jota, who ran at Takehiro Tomiyasu. Jota caused chaos on the ball before firing past an off-balance Aaron Ramsdale for 1-0.
The second was far more Alexander-Arnold-like. He saw Jota’s brilliant run in-behind before anyone else, firing a cutting pass over the top for his teammate. The Liverpool star took a touch before chipping over Ramsdale for his second goal.
And after the game, Alexander-Arnold was full of praise for the ‘world-class’ Jota.
Trent Alexander-Arnold hails Jota
“Diogo’s first goal was outstanding from him, the type of player he is,” Alexander-Arnold said, per Liverpoolfc.com. “And again the second goal, he has done outstanding again.
“He is a world-class player in possibly the best form he’s found himself in at the club so far.”

The pair of them were world-class, in all honesty. They’re the two that caused Arsenal the most trouble and in a tense game, they proved the difference.
Ian Wright said after the match that they’d ‘killed’ the Gunners and there’s no better way to put it. Alexander-Arnold and Jota were lethal, world-class players who put Arsenal to the sword.
Both players are in the form of their lives and long may it continue. Hopefully, that form takes at least one trophy back to Anfield this season.
