Ian Wright believes Diogo Jota and Trent Alexander-Arnold were just too much for Arsenal as they lost 2-0 vs Liverpool. The duo were magnificent at the Emirates.

Liverpool went to North London knowing they needed a win. That’s no easy task, especially with Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah missing.

But they needn’t have worried. Liverpool ended up being comfortable here, scoring two brilliant goals on their way to a 2-0 win. And according to Arsenal legend Ian Wright, two Reds were simply ‘on a different level’ to everyone else.

“[Diogo] Jota and Trent [Alexander-Arnold] have been a different level,” he wrote on Twitter. “Killing us with football.”

Diogo Jota & Trent Alexander-Arnold dominate for Liverpool vs Arsenal

What an incredible performance from these two. Both Jota and Alexander-Arnold were instrumental in Liverpool winning this game.

Jota, in particular, deserves the credit. He scored both goals – and they were fantastic strikes. His first saw him collect the ball on the left after a brilliant move. Jota moved inside, dribbled past two or three players, and scuffed a shot past an off-balance Aaron Ramsdale.

The second was just as good as Jota took advantage of a poor offside trap to get in behind. From there he took one touch on his chest and a second to lift it over Ramsdale. Initially judged offside, Jota was convinced he’d scored for Liverpool. Fortunately, VAR proved him correct.

We wrote last month that Jota could be Liverpool’s saviour over AFCON and this was evidence of that. A world-class goalscorer.

Naturally, Alexander-Arnold play a key role in both. His play in midfield opened things up for Jota’s first, while it was his perfectly-placed long pass that put his teammate in for the second.

Arsenal couldn’t handle either of them – their mix of movement, passing and finishing was unstoppable. They truly were on a different level.
