3 transfers Liverpool should target for a major 2022

It’s Christmas time and so it’s also time for Liverpool to really think about transfers as we head into 2022. Here are three we’d love to see to ensure a major year for the Reds.

Jonathan David

We’re huge fans of Jonathan David here – and Liverpool supposedly are, too. L’Equipe claims they’re at the front of the queue if Lille choose to sell their top scorer.

David is currently enjoying a breakout season, which is saying something for someone who won Ligue 1 last time out. But the Canadian currently leads France’s scoring charts, two ahead of Kylian Mbappe.

And honestly, just about everything David does should appeal to Liverpool. He’s quick, strong, can link play well, he scores goals at a great rate and his pressing is outstanding.

If L’Equipe are correct about a £30m asking price, Liverpool shouldn’t even think twice. David could be a sensational signing.

Jude Bellingham

Honestly, we have no idea how likely this one is. Jude Bellingham will almost certainly leave Borussia Dortmund at some point – it just might be in 2023.

But regardless of Dortmund’s intentions, Liverpool should have the Englishman on their shortlist. He’s just too good – and too perfect – not to be.

Bellingham might be Liverpool’s dream signing, really, as an all-action midfielder who ticks the Homegrown box and already being fantastic as a teenager. It’s hard to see how it could possibly go wrong and we’ve mentioned before how he should be their first £100m signing.

Denis Zakaria

Liverpool supposedly want Denis Zakaria, per Gazzetta Dello Sport, and with good reason. The Swiss midfielder is not only an incredibly talented player but his contract expires in the summer.

We think he’d be an ideal replacement for Gini Wijnaldum, for one. Zakaria boasts similar skills, keeping the ball wonderfully well and contributing both defensively and in attack.

We do believe Liverpool should wait until the summer for this particular transfer – there’s no rush to bring him in and a freebie would be ideal.
