Jurgen Klopp saw his second-string Liverpool side win 2-1 vs AC Milan at San Siro on Tuesday evening. The boss says it was a ‘big pleasure’ to watch 19-year-old Tyler Morton shine.
Liverpool can be incredibly proud of their win against Milan last night. This was a heavily rotated side that featured only three players from the Reds’ current run of form.
Alisson started in goal, while Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah took up spots on the wings. No one else, though, would make Liverpool’s best XI.
Not that you could tell. Here was a mix of youngsters and fringe players controlling a game against the Serie A leaders. More than that, they were up against a Champions League side in Milan that needed a win far more than Liverpool did.
There were a few real standouts, too. We went over some of them here but it was impossible to choose just three – everyone shone.
One player perhaps deserves a particular shoutout, though. Tyler Morton started what was the most difficult game of his career by some distance but the teenager looked composed in the middle.
Tyler Morton shines for Liverpool vs Milan
Jurgen Klopp certainly liked what he saw. The Liverpool boss was careful not to overhype the Liverpool youngster for what he did against Milan but did hand out some serious praise.
“It was a big pleasure to watch the boy playing and the football knowledge, the football brain he showed tonight was absolutely exceptional,” he said, per Liverpoolfc.com.

“If you are technically on that level – and he is, obviously – and you have then such good orientation then sometimes you have enough time for doing good stuff.
“That was what he did tonight. On top of that, he defended incredibly well, together with the other boys.”
Klopp certainly wasn’t alone in that, either. Fans had a lot of nice things to say about Morton after the game.
A 19-year-old helped control a game for Liverpool against a fierce Milan side. That’s certainly something to shout about and Morton appears to have tremendous potential right now.
