Liverpool vs Milan on Tuesday evening in the UEFA Champions League. Here are our picks for the Reds’ three best players on the night.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain once again showed what he can bring to this Liverpool midfield with an impressive display vs AC Milan. His ability to run with the ball makes him stand out but the 28-year-old looks like a complete midfielder right now.
As we say, Oxlade-Chamberlain has an ability to drive past or through players that no one else in midfield really has. Certainly not with his explosiveness and we saw what it brings with the equaliser.
Oxlade-Chamberlain burst past his marker, weaved in and out with the ball, and got a shot off that the goalkeeper could only parry. Mohamed Salah, of course, got there to turn home an excellent finish.
It was the midfielder who provided the electricity to make it all happen, though. Without the ball, too, Oxlade-Chamberlain caught the eye. He won tackles, interceptions, pressed hard and just looked comfortable all-around with a 90% pass completion.
Oxlade-Chamberlain consistently looks impressive for Liverpool right now and did so again against Milan.
Ibrahima Konate
Ibrahima Konate may only be 22 but he played the role of senior centre-back here in the UEFA Champions League against the less-experienced Nat Phillips. To say he held his own would be an understatement.
We watched Konate out-muscle Zlatan Ibrahimovic and force the Swede onto Phillips for the second half. His presence was just too much for even the legendary striker to handle.
Konate truly was fantastic here and got just about everything right. Including a perfectly-timed tackle on Franck Kessie late on that effectively won the game. The composure for that one – outstanding.
The Frenchman has had some good performances in a Liverpool shirt but this might have been his best. Brilliant.
Mohamed Salah
It’s tough to pick just three players from this – there are XI who deserve some sort of credit. Mohamed Salah, though, gets our nod with an outstanding 64 minutes.

There’s his goal, of course – a fantastic finish where he made a difficult effort look routine. Salah reacted rapidly to Oxlade-Chamberlain’s shot, lifting it into the roof of the net to equalise for Liverpool against Milan.
But Salah toyed with opponents at times, creating three chances while keeping his pass completion at 93%. He just makes everything look easy right now, even when playing against a top side away from home in a second-string XI.
Casually the world’s best player.
