Some fans were quick to praise Trent Alexander-Arnold after he shone in Liverpool v Arsenal. The full-back was incredible in a 4-0 win.
Liverpool tore Arsenal to shreds at Anfield. They played a patient first half before running riot against a rattled team in the second.
And there were wonderful performances all over the pitch, with Thiago and Fabinho controlling midfield to perfection. They were fantastic.
But another Red caught the eye – Trent Alexander-Arnold. The Scouser was unstoppable once he got going, finishing with two assists and a clean sheet.
His delivery from a free-kick for the first was perfection, putting it on a plate for Sadio Mane. He then assisted the third, too, as he drilled a low cross to the back post for Takumi Minamino.
And that’s before he mention his counter-pressing, his passing overall and defensive work. Alexander-Arnold’s creativity always stands out, though.
He created four chances in this one – a game-high – two of which became assists (stats per Whoscored). That’s nine assists in his last six games for club and country, in fact. An incredible record, then, as it also took him to six just in the Premier League this season.
Understandably, fans took to Twitter to praise what Alexander-Arnold is doing after his Arsenal display.
Alexander-Arnold shines for Liverpool v Arsenal
Some very, very high praise there, then. Alexander-Arnold is doing things we haven’t really seen before from a full-back.
And that’s saying something – he’s already a record-holder for assists as a defender in the Premier League. But he’s currently on-course for around 20 in the league this season.
Alexander-Arnold is the most creative player at Liverpool and, over the previous three years, the most creative in England. It’s sensational stuff and given he’s still only 23, there might still be a few more levels to come.
