There will be a host of free agents available in 2022 and Liverpool may have eyes on a few of them. Here are three the Reds could offer contracts to.
Liverpool will almost certainly have eyes on several free agents in 2022 – everyone will. There are plenty of really interesting talents out of contract, with clubs able to offer pre-contract deals in January.
Here are four who Liverpool could reportedly try and tempt.
Let’s get the most obvious one out of the way. Kylian Mbappe will be available for free in 2022, as ridiculous as that is.
The Frenchman reportedly rejected a world-record offer from Paris Saint-Germain to renew in August. He’s now going to be open for negotiation in January.
Whether you believe Liverpool have a chance at Mbappe or not, they’d be mad not to at least test the waters. Signing the striker for nothing could well go down as the greatest transfer in history, after all.
There is talk that the Reds do want him and while we find it hard to see, they’ll surely make an offer. Mbappe to Liverpool won’t go away just yet.
Back into reality, then. Mbappe’s compatriot, Ousmane Dembele, represents a really interesting opportunity for teams this summer.
He’s out of contract and, per Sport, Barcelona are struggling to find a deal. Here’s a hugely talented 24-year-old with real experience, then, just as Liverpool could use more depth on their wings.
Liverpool could still use someone to replace Gini Wijnaldum, of course. Someone with experience and an all-around game that fits into their midfield.
Denis Zakaria could be that player. He’s out of contract with Borussia Monchengladbach this summer and will likely move on.
Franck Kessie is one of the hottest free agents of 2022 and Liverpool will surely try and get involved. Like Zakaria, he could be their answer to Gini Wijnaldum’s exit.
Both Gazzetta Dello Sport and Mundo Deportivo recently reported that Liverpool want Kessie. The only real hiccup is that Tottenham Hotspur might try and get a deal done with AC Milan in January.
That would be a shame. Kessie could honestly be a dream signing for Liverpool’s long-term midfield. And for nothing? A potential steal.
