Liverpool fans have been crying out for new signings. The Reds are in need of reinforcements in a number of areas of the pitch. We’ve only made the one signing but we’ve managed to tie down a number of players to long term contracts. Twitter has reacted to reports Liverpool and Jordan Henderson have agreed a new contract.
Liverpool contract spree
All summer fans have been crying out for new signings.
We are short on numbers in the midfield and we are lacking quality in depth in the final third.
At the moment there’s been no movement for players in either role.
Despite the lack of transfer activity there has been a number of players signing new long term deals.
Alisson Becker has penned a six-year contract with the club, keeping him here until 2027.
Meanwhile Trent Alexander-Arnold and Fabinho have penned five-year deals which run until 2026.
Furthermore we’ve seen Virgil van Dijk put pen to paper on a contract which runs into 2025.
Jordan Henderson new contract
A few weeks ago Kopites began to panic.
The Athletic reported that Liverpool and Jordan Henderson had reached an impasse over a new contract.
The outlet claimed that despite talks having opened the two parties couldn’t come to an agreement and there were serious doubts about his future as a result.
PSG and Atletico Madrid were said to be interested in the Reds captain should he become available.
Thankfully, The Athletic has now reported that Jordan Henderson is set to sign a new contract.
The outlet has stated that the Reds have agreed a deal in principle with the skipper. The contract will run for three years with the option of a fourth.
Twitter reaction
Fans are understandably over the moon with the new deal.
