Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that both Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcantara will play in tomorrow’s friendly against Osasuna.
Neither of the midfielders were involved with the squad for Sunday’s match against Athletic Club, nor have they featured in any of the other pre-season games this summer.
Thiago has been struggling with a slight injury issue, while Henderson was given an extended break after reaching the final of Euro 2020 with England.
Jurgen Klopp has now confirmed that they will both feature in the final pre-season game tomorrow.
He told Liverpoolfc.com: “Yeah, that’s the plan [for them to get minutes on Monday].
“They trained both this morning and they will have a few minutes tomorrow night for sure. Or I hope, at least.
“They look good in training but of course their pre-season starts now pretty much so that’s a bit later than the others.
“So we have to consider that, but yeah, tomorrow we will see them.”
Henderson and Thiago can form elite midfield
Along with Fabinho, Henderson and Thiago could form what we would class as the best midfield in the world next season.
With Fabinho in the 6 and Henderson and Thiago either side, it is a perfectly balanced trio.
Henderson can do the box-to-box role, while the Spaniard will have freedom to do as he pleases.
We never got to see the dream midfield last season, with both Fabinho and Henderson having to fill in at centre-back.
Klopp will hope that he gets the chance to field the three in the majority of matches this season.
If he does, then Liverpool will have a great chance of success.
It will hopefully start tomorrow. Fans will be keen to see all three in the same midfield against Osasuna.
It will be vital for them as it will be their first real chance to build a relationship. Having missed so much of pre-season, they will hope to get up to speed quickly.
